Round Top-Carmine and Schulenburg March Into Regional Quarterfinals

Cubettes Sweep Into 3rd Round

The Round Top-Carmine volleyball team rolled past Leverett’s Chapel Thursday in North Zulch in the area round of the 1A playoffs. The Cubettes won 25-12, 25-7, 25-9. RT-C improved to 34-7 with the win and they now advance to the regional quarterfinals Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Chester in Splendora.

Here are the Cubettes’stats from Thursday’s victory: Mallory Krause 8 kills, 3 digs, 15 assists, 4 aces; Tess Eilers 6 kills, 4 digs; Kennedy Flinn 1 kill; Kaysie Ward 10 kills, 2 solo blocks; Jessica Rohde 6 kills; Jill Eilers 2 kills, 2 digs, 16 assists, 3 aces; Maggie Salinas 6 digs, 2 assists, 1 ace; Kim Rohde 1 kill, 3 digs, 5 aces; Avery Nelius 2 digs, 4 aces.

Lady Horns Roll Past Thorndale

Thursday in Giddings the Schulenburg volleyball team defeated Thorndale 27-25, 25-10, 25-15 to advance to the third round of the 2A volleyball playoffs.

The Lady Horns now have a 34-12 overall record and advance to play Skidmore-Tynan Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Seguin High School.

In Thursday’s match Jessalyn Gipson had 13 kills for Schulenburg, Meredith Magliolo had eight, and Reagan Dusek and Emmrie Marx each had seven.

Landry Zapalac had 27 assists. Keaton Waler led in aces with three and Kieryn Adams and Clara Magliolo each had two.

Dusek and Brooke Redding each had two blocks.

Adams led in kills with 16, Avery Helms had eight and Keaton Walker had seven.

Fayetteville Falls

The Fayetteville volleyball team saw its season come to an end Thursday with a 25-18, 25-9, 25-12 loss to Neches. The Lady Lions end their season with a 18-23 record while Neches (29-9) advances to the 1A regional quarterfinals.
