Local Volleyball Teams Wracking Up the Wins and the Milestones
The La Grange volleyball team defeated Katy Harmony Friday to improve their record to 1-1 in district and 14-10 overall.
Two Lady Leps achieved big milestones last week.
Senior Avery Griffin reached the 500 career-kill mark in Friday’s match. Her junior teammate Brion Williams reached that same 500 career-kill mark in Tuesday’s match at Giddings.
Both were honored for their achievements Friday at home.
The Lady Leps play at Bellville Tuesday.
Schulenburg
The Schulenburg volleyball team defeated Rice on Friday 25-19, 25-11, 25-8.
The win improves the Lady Horns to 17-15 overall and 2-0 in district.
Kaylee Vacek led Schulenburg with 11 kills. Greenli Van Zandt had nine, Kimber Bartosch had six kills and Aubryn Janda had five.
Jenna Guentert had 24 assists.
Van Zandt had six aces and she also led in digs with seven. Miranda Bonner had four aces and six digs.
Fayetteville
The Fayetteville volleyball team defeated Hearne Friday 25-5, 25-8, 25-11.
The Lady Lions improved to 15-9 with the victory. Lainey Gromaski had seven kills to lead Fayetteville. Cambree Denham had five, Lilly Aldape had four and Scotti Beseda had three.
Aldape and Beseda had six aces. Gromaski and Emily Keilers had four aces.
Aubree Graeter led in digs with six and Keilers had five.
Beseda had 16 assists.
Flatonia
The Flatonia volleyball team defeated Danbury Friday 25-18, 25-11, 25-23.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 12-16 overall but 2-0 in district.
Flatonia’s stats from Friday’s match include – Aces: Harper Morrill, Emma Kosler and Kennedy Dornak - 2; Block Assists: Quinn Arnett 4, Kat Sullivan and Abbie Uzzell and Harper Morrill and Emma Kosler 2; Digs: Brynlee Zimmerman 13, Harper Morrill 8, Kennedy Dornak 7; Assists: Harper Morrill 26; Kills: Kat Sullivan 13, Quinn Arnett and Abbie Uzzell 6.
Round Top-Carmine
The Round Top-Carmine volleyball team defeated Burton in four sets Friday 16-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-20.
The victory improves the Cubettes’ overall record to 15-7.
