Local CC Runners State-Bound

The Region 4 cross country championships were held Monday in Corpus Christi.

Fayetteville’s Cole Fenhaus was third in the boys 1A race and also helped lead the Lions team to a third place finish and a state berth. Other Fayetteville boys team members included (Kole Schmitt Lawson Fritsch, Mason Fenhaus, Keagan Supak, Emanual Champs and Colt Cox).

Fayetteville’s Saige Gasaway was 12th in the 1A girls race to also qualify for state as the Lady Lions were 12th as a team. The Round Top-Carmine Cubettes were ninth as a team led by a 24th place finish by Avery Nelius.

In 2A boys Flatonia’s Duke Sodek was 16th to also qualify for state. The Schulenburg girls were 6th as a team with Ruby Rodriguez leading the way with a 17th place finish. The Schulenburg boys were 22nd led by a 79th place individual finish by Alton Herzik.

At the 4A regionals in Huntsville, the La Grange girls were 18th as a team, led by a 32nd place finish by sophomore Eleanor Carey.
