LG/Giddings Named One of State’s Best Football Rivalries

As part of the season-long celebration of UIL 100 Years of Football, Giddings vs. La Grange has been nominated as being one of the Top 100 rivalries in the history of UIL Texas High School Football.

Giddings vs. La Grange: One of the oldest rivalries in Texas, the “Battle of Highway 77” has been played since 1916. Separated by only one game, La Grange leads the heated series 48-47. With each game the stakes continue to heighten.

A fan vote will determine the top 10 rivalries of all time. Voting ends Sunday the 27th at noon. Vote at TexasFootball. com/UIL100-Rivalries/Form/.

Each of the 100 nominated rivalries will be recognized by the UIL and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football in a special commemorative magazine and the Top 10 will be recognized with a special ceremony at the UIL State Football Championship in Arlington.
