LG Swimming Star Campbell Youens is New Fayette Co. Athlete of the Week
La Grange sophomore Campbell Youens hasn’t wasted any time becoming victorious in her early swimming career.
She won the 100 meter butterfly event last week in El Campo, along with the previous two events this season and also broke the school record time for the same event last year as a freshman. “One of the most successful things that I particularly enjoy about Campbell is that she is great at butterfly,” said La Grange head swimming coach Gretchen Ledwik. “Butterfly is the most difficult of the four strokes and it is the one that takes the most strength and coordination. Even as a freshman, she took over that role on our team as the main butterfly swimmer and just has excelled every meet she goes to. She puts 100% in. She just keeps shaving time off and it’s like she’s flying through the water.” Youens’ fast start has earned her a spot on this edition’s Player of the Week.
