LG Softball Season Ends in Bi-District
The La Grange softball team lived to play another game, but not another day.
The Lady Leps were eliminated in their best-of-three first round series against Salado over the weekend.
La Grange lots the first game 3-2 Friday, rallied to win the second game 8-7, but then lost in the finale 22-5.
In the series opener Friday in Salado, five errors doomed the Lady Leps.
Pitcher Abigail Dela Rosa threw a complete game and only gave-up one earned run, along with six hits.
La Grange took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on RBI singles by Avery Marshall and Haylie Cooper.
Salado got single runs in the fourth and fifth before walking off with the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.
Saturday’s Game 2 was supposed to be in La Grange but because of the wet weather it was moved initially to Rice Consolidated and later to Navasota.
Salado was up 7-5 going into the final at-bat for the Lady Leps, but RBIs by Marshall, Kaylie Lehmann and Cooper in the bottom of the seventh won it in walk-off fashion for La Grange, as Jenna Jobb came home with the game winner.
Muras had a homer in Game 2, and drove in two. Lehmann, Marshall and Natalie Blackwell hit doubles. Abigail Dela Rosa, Marshall and Kailee Jones all had two hits in that game.
But the third game, played after Game 2 Saturday night, got out of hand early and the Lady Leps season came to an end with a 22-8 record.
Four Lady Leps seniors played their final game for La Grange – Muras, Blackwell, Alyssa Dela Rosa and Jones.
