LG Soccer Update: Boys Win, Girls Fall

The La Grange boys soccer team won on the road Friday but the Leps girls lost at home.

The Leopards defeated Smithville Friday 2-0 with goals scored by C.J. Davis and Phillip Arceneaux. The team recorded its seventh straight shutout behind a quality effort from the goalkeeper Antonio Landaverde. The Leps are now 14-5-2 overall and 9-1 in district. The Leps play at Hearne Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Lady Leps lost to Giddings at home 11-2. Megan Davis and Angela Martinez scored the goals for La Grange with an assist from Natalie Orona. Defensive player of the game was Angel Harrison.

“Tough loss tonight – we played a very good team and just got outmanned. Still, proud of the effort of the players we had available and the playoff atmosphere experience many of my newer players got tonight,” said head coach Chris Westall. “It will make us a better team and we’ll need to respond quicklywe have an important match against Cameron Yoe on Tuesday to close out the regular season.”

The Lady Leps are 12-4 overall and 5-2 in district and host Cameron Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
