The La Grange baseball team had a good spring break.

Just three bad innings at the tail-end of it kept it from being exceptional.

La Grange beat Wharton 13-0 Wednesday and then went on the road and beat Sealy 6-4 Thursday.

Friday, the Leps were leading El Campo 6-1 going into the sixth inning, but the Ricebirds scored five runs in the sixth, three more in the seventh to tie the game and then won the game with a pair of runs in extra inning to win 11-9.

La Grange’s overall record is now 9-7.

Friday the Leps seemed poised to knock off the Ricebirds as Kadyn Hall pitched one-run baseball through the first five innings.

Meanwhile, the Leps bats continued their torrid start to the season with a big six-run third inning.

Wyatt Wick hit an RBI double to drive in Ryder Imhoff to tie the game at 1-1.

Braeden Wilder hit a double to drive in Wick and Cameron Kruse. A Hall single scored Wilder and then a single by Clay Wolff plated Trenton Barnes and Colby Spann.

La Grange held that 6-1 lead until the sixth when El Campo scored five runs to tie the game, but La Grange answered back in their half of the sixth.

Imhoff doubled to score Wolff and Bennett Barber and then an error brought Imhoff home.

But up 9-6, La Grange couldn’t hold the lead.

La Grange hosts Austin Waves at 8 p.m. Tuesday and then begins district play at Austin Eastside Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
