Lady Leps’ Most Prolific Goal Scorer Ever Is Our Newest County Athlete of the Week
La Grange High School senior soccer player Shelby Hofferek has led her Lady Leopards soccer team to a 3-1-1 start, scoring three goals on the season, which is the most on the team.
She also holds the all-time school record for most goals scored.
“It’s been a big part of our success,” said La Grange head girl’s soccer coach Chris Westall when asked about Hofferek’s record. “Shelby’s been with us four years and the program has increased, developed, and improved along with her. I’ve never known a player who has a better nose for a goal. That’s a big part of why Shelby’s numbers are so incredibly high. She’s also learned other aspects of the game. How to distribute, how to encourage teammates. She’s a captain this year, so a big, big part of our program. As a senior, there’s a couple other seniors that have been along the ride with her. A big part of how we’re going to do this year.” Hofferek’s record-shattering tenure has landed her a spot on this edition’s Player of the Week.
