Lady Leps Grab Key Victory in Smithville

The La Grange varsity volleyball team grabbed a huge district victory Friday at Smithville, beating the Lady Tigers 25-17, 26-24, 16-25, 21-25, 17-15.

The win improves the Lady Leps’ overall record to 16-21 and their district mark to 4-3, keeping them in fourth place in the district standings ahead of the Lady Tigers.

The top four teams make the postseason.

Kylie Trlicek led La Grange in kills with 17, Carley Ulrich had 15 and Tori Harold had 12.

Haylie Cooper led in digs with 33, Jena Jobb had 23, Mara Colon had 19 and Trlicek had 16.

Jobb had six aces and Colon had two.

Phoebe Tucker led in assists with 31 and Trlicek had 21.

In subvarsity action, the La Grange JV defeated Smithville 25-19, 14-25, 15-10 to improve to 14-9 overall and 5-2 in district.

The La Grange freshman team defeated Smithville 2521, 25-17 to improve to 11-12 overall and 3-2 in district.

La Grange will host Taylor on Tuesday, October 10.
