Lady Leps Fall to Burnet in Playoff Opener

The La Grange girls volleyball team saw their season come to an end Friday in Thrall in a four set loss to Burnet in a 4A bidistrict playoff game.

Burnet won the first set 25-13, but La Grange bounced back to win the second set 25-13. The Lady Leps had a 19-13 lead in the third set after strong serving runs by Brynna Stackhouse and Emma Coltrain, but Burnet rallied to win that set 25-21 and then they took the final set 25-18.

La Grange’s Maddi Fritz led in kills with 11 and Lanie Doyle had eight. Brynna Stackhouse had 20 assists and three aces. Megan Brothers had 38 digs and Natalie Blackwell had 16. Ryann Marshall had three blocks.

The Lady Leps, who were District 20-4A co-champs, end the season with a 16-15 overall record.

Five seniors were playing in their final match for La Grange – Lanie Doyle, Ryann Marshall, Megan Brothers, Natalie Blackwell and Ashlynn Golan.

Burnet (16-12) advances to play Carthage in the next round.
