Lady Leps Continue Strong 2021 Soccer Start

The La Grange Girls varsity soccer played in the Blue Bell Tournament in Brenham Thursday through Saturday and went a combined 2-1-1 over the four matches played. The two wins and one loss were against 5A teams Brenham, Jersey Village and Magnolia West, respectively; while the tie was against 4A Little Cypress-Mauriceville.

Leaders for the weekend were as follows:

Goals- Camila Martinez (2); Shelby Hofferek (1); Megan Davis (1)

Assists- Jolie Gutierrez (1); Shelby Hofferek (1)

Defensive Player- Harper Westall (26 saves, 3 goals allowed)

“Got out of the gate quick with the two wins over Brenham and Jersey Village before the schedule and a few injuries caught up with us,” said La Grange head coach Chris Westall. “Still, this team put in the effort and showed very early in the season what it’s capable of. Last year we did not win a match at this tournament, so we will definitely take the improvement and get back to work next week.”

The Lady Leps overall record is now 3-1-1. They are scheduled to host Sealy this Friday at 5:15 p.m. at Leopard Stadium.
