Lady Leps Blast New Tech in District Opener
The non-district portion of their schedule was frustrating for the La Grange volleyball team but they put that behind them in a big way Tuesday as the Lady Leps went to Manor New Tech and swept them 25-11, 25- 3, 25-11.
La Grange’s overall record of 6-12 doesn’t matter anymore. They are 1-0 in district.
“I thought we played well and for the most part kept our focus and executed our game plan,” said La Grange head coach Leslie Coltrain. “After the pre-season schedule we played, it’s nice to finally be starting district.”
Natalie Blackwell led the Lady Leps in kills with seven and Lanie Doyle and Maddie Fritz each had six.
Megan Brothers led in digs with 19.
Doyle had 11 aces, Fritz had 10 assists and Ryann Marshall and Camille Gonzalez each had a block.
The La Grange JV also won Tuesday 25-11, 25-8 to improve to 4-13 overall and 1-0 in district.
The La Grange freshmen won 25-8, 25-7 to improve to 12-5 overall and 1-0 in district.
The Lady Leps return to district action Saturday when they host Smithville.
Subvarsities begin at 1 p.m and the varsity match will begin about 2 p.m.
