Lacrosse Game at White Rock Park

La Grange played host to what may have been its first lacrosse game Sunday as the Central Texas Renegade Warriors with players from Austin, San Antonio and New Braunfels faced the Houston Metro team. La Grange proved to be a nice neutral site for the teams to travel to. “The teams really liked the park and traveling to LG and are thinking of doing more out here,” said La Grange’s Dr. Russ Juno, who knew one of the game’s organizers. Lacrosse is the oldest organized team sport in North America and originates from a game played by Native Americans. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. There are college and pro leagues of the sport.
