La Grange Subvarsity Football Recaps
The Freshmen football team traveled Thursday September 14 to Lago Vista to take on their JV team. Despite the age gap the freshmen team powered through to win the game 14-7 and level their record to 2-2. Highlights included 2 TD runs by Dillan Johnson and a pass from Eli Gillium to Dwodney Thompson for a 2 pt. conversion. With a record of 2-2 the Freshmen team will take on Somerville JV team next week on Thursday the 21st.
9/12/23 VS Navasota 7th Grade Gold
The Leopards suffered a close loss to Navasota with the score ending 7-12. The clock expired in the 4th quarter with the Leopards 5 yards from scoring the game winning touchdown. Leading the offense was Dorian Harrington, who scored the lone Leopard touchdown. Aiden Bennett added the point after with a tough run up the middle. Also making some hard runs to gain first downs and keep drives going were Gabriel Freimel and Hunter Melton. Those playing well defensively were Candyn Janca and Melton who also had a fumble recovery.
7th Grade Purple
The Leopards lost 6-31 to the visiting Rattlers. Jeremiah Ferguson scored the only Leopard touchdown on a long run. Cole Fritz and Tytan Sanders also had some physical runs against a stout Rattler defense. Leading the defense was Fritz who had a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery. Tanner Finch also had a fumble recovery for the Leopards.
The seventh grade will be back in action on September 19 in Cuero.
8th Grade Gold
Wyatt Karstedt and Emmanuel Angel led the way on defense. Both had several tackles throughout the game. While Aiden Koether was a standout on offense scoring two 50+ yard touchdowns. Despite fighting hard the Leopards fell 25-13 to Navasota.
8th Grade Purple
The Purple team took the field second Tuesday night at Rattler Stadium. The Leopards moved the ball on offense well at times, but failed to find the end zone in the loss. Howard Holmes and Traiton Broussard were standouts on both sides of the ball showing grit and determination until the final whistle. Offensively, running back Garland Hart led the Leopards and Edric Gants led the way on defense with over a dozen tackles on the night. As the clock struck zero seconds in the fourth quarter the score read Navasota 33 La Grange 0.
The eighth grade will be back in action on September 19 at Home facing the Cuero Gobblers.
