La Grange Subvarsity Football

The La Grange JV opened district play against Smithville with a 32-0 win.

Touchdowns were scored by Kaleb Hensley on a pass from Brothers, Cory Powell from a TD pass from Quade Brothers, and Ryder Price from a TD pass from Brothers. There were two rushing touchdowns by Ramon Ortiz. Defense had their 2nd shutout of the season with interceptions from Graham Youens and Brayden McCoy.

LG Freshman 22, Columbus 6 The Freshman football team defeated the Columbus Cardinals 22-6 October 5th. It was a hard fought game in which the Leps were able to come out on top and improve their overall record to 4-2. Highlights included 3 touchdown runs by Dillan Johnson and 2pt conversions from Luke Anderson and Ethan Prasek. The Leps will now turn around and play Giddings JV next week home at 5.

Middle School 9/27 VS Caldwell 7th Gold

Both 7th grade teams traveled to Caldwell on Tuesday to take on the Hornets. The Leopards battled hard throughout the game, but ended up losing to Caldwell 26-6. Angel Hernandez had several long runs, but the only time the Leopards could convert it into points was when Gabriel Friemel was able to score a touchdown run. Defensively, Sebastian Pimentel, Aiden Bennett, and Dorian Harrington had several tackles.

7th Purple

The Leopards battled to a scoreless first half with Caldwell before losing 7-0. Javien Franklin opened up the game with a big kick off return, but the Leopards couldn’t get the ball into the endzone for a touchdown . In another offensive series, the Leopards converted a long fourth down conversion when quarterback Graham Adams completed a long pass to Liam Darden, progressing the ball to the 15 yard line. Once again the Leopards were unable to get the ball across the goal line for a touchdown. Defensively, the Leopards were led by Cole Fritz, Brodie Kelly, Judah Odom and Tanner Finch who all recorded quarterback sacks and tackles for losses. Sebastian Soto and Giovana Luna also had several tackles throughout the game.

8th Grade

The 8th grade teams combined to take on Caldwell and came out victorious with a score of 26-14. The Leopards led at halftime by a score of 13-6, but had only run one offensive play which was a long touchdown run by Garland Hart that was followed by a PAT pass from Tristin Ulrich to Rogan Mihatsch. The second touchdown of the first half was scored on a kickoff return by Traiton Broussard with the PAT being unsuccessful. The second half included a touchdown run by Garland Hart and a touchdown pass from Ulrich to Broussard. Defensively, the Leopards were led by David Watson, Howard Holmes, Rowe Price, and Darius Johnson.

Middle School 10/3 vs Bellville 7th Grade Gold Team

Tuesday evening the La Grange Leopards took on some very tough teams from Bellville on Leopard field. The Gold team offensive standouts were quarterback Gabriel Friemel and running backs Angel Hernandez, Dorian Harrington, and Jaxtyn Scott. Defensively, the Leopards faced a rough task of stopping the Brahmas slot T offense. The standouts on the defensive side were Candyn Janca, Hunter Melton, Dorian Harrington, and Sebastian Pimentel. Bellville came away with the win 22-0.

7th Grade Purple Team

The Purple team fought hard until the last play against Bellville losing 26-0. Defensive standouts for the game were Liam Darden, Giovanni Luna, Tanner Finch, and Donovan Soto. All had multiple tackles and touchdown saving plays. Offensively, the Leopards struggled to find the endzone, but put together some long drives throughout the game. Stand outs on the offense were Graham Adams and Ryder Klesel who shared the snaps at quarterback. Other offensive standouts were Jeremiah Ferguson and David Raby who both had multiple catches and long runs versus the Bellville defense.

8th Grade Gold Team

The 8th grade teams traveled to Bellville for their games Tuesday evening. The Gold team struggled to get anything going in the first half and entered halftime down 30-0, however in the second half the Leopards began to fight back and competed much better. The final score was 36-0 in favor of the Brahmas. The offensive and defensive standout players for La Grange were Aiden Koether, David Watson, Emmanuel Angel, Everett Cook, Jayce Feagins and Lucas Lenhart.

8th Grade Purple Team

In the second game of the night, the purple team battled the entire first half with the Brahmas. La Grange fell behind after the opening drive 6-0, but the Leopards answered immediately as Traiton Broussard caught a pass from Tristin Ulrich for the TD to tie the game. The remainder of the first half was a defensive battle until the Brahmas kicked a field goal to take a halftime lead of 9-6. The Leopard defense showed up in full force at the beginning of the second half by shutting down the Bellville offense. Once the Leopard offense got the ball back they came to life, quickly scoring 3 touchdowns. The first was a 40 yard touchdown catch by Howard Holmes from Tristin Ulrich. Then a few plays later Garland Hardt found the endzone on a 3 yard run. Then Broussard took a handoff up the sideline for a 50 yard score. After the offensive explosion the Leopards now led the game 24-9. The game ended with back to back defensive touchdowns by the La Grange defense as Traiton Broussard took an interception 60 yards for the score. Then on the next defensive series Howard Holmes ripped the ball from the hands of the Brahma running back and sprinted 40 yards for another La Grange score. The final score was 36-17 in favor of the Leopards. Defensive Standouts were Rowe Price, Traiton Broussard, Dalton Janacek, Edric Gants, Howard Holmes, Darius Johnson, and Khris Cuevas.
