La Grange JV Wins District Football Title
Last Thursday the La Grange JV Gold capped off their season with a 42-12 win to capture the district title going 7-3 and 5-0 in district. Highlights included two touchdown runs by Devon Johnson, a touchdown run by Abraham Urbina, two-point conversions by Abraham Urbina and Eli Roberts and an interception return for a touchdown by Jaiden Williams.
As the season concludes JV coaches Carlos Guevara and Chris Billings shared how special this group was and talked about the success they had on and off the field.
Coach Chris Billings - “Really could not be more proud of this group of young men. They battled their way through a tough schedule. Watching them each week on defense for me was so much fun, because no matter what situations came up they al-ways puffed up their chests and went to work. There was always a feeling with this group that they had each others backs and no matter what needed to be done the next guy was always willing and ready to step up and do it. Love these guys and wouldn’t want to coach anyone else. I hope they take what they’ve accomplished this year and continue that in the years to come and playing on Friday nights.”
Coach Carlos Guevara- “Can’t express how proud I am of this group of young men. From day one, Coach Billings and I stressed about how tough JV can be but one thing we can be rewarded with is our Thursday night games. This group of young men did exactly that having to endure a tough schedule and some tough practices to battle through till the end. I enjoyed watching the team find a way to succeed and grow throughout the season which makes me so proud, reflecting on their season. They may not have always been the biggest or fastest out on the field but every play they played hard until the whistle blew and that is one of things Coach Billings and I were extremely proud of. This being my first year back in La Grange, a place so special to me where I have so many fond memories growing up, I was so honored to be able to coach these young men. I love this group and I am so glad they accomplished what they did this year. I hope they can take this year as a step to find success in the classroom, future Friday nights and life in general.”
