Liberty High School hired Schulenburg native Wesley Kutac as its new head baseball coach. He is pictured above observing a pitcher on his new team.

Last week Liberty High School in East Texas announced Schulenburg-native Wesley Kutac as its new head baseball coach.

“It’s a dream come true,” Kutac said. “Ever since I was a young kid I had the ambition to become a head coach one day. It’s a blessing.”

Kutac, 27, began his coaching career at his alma mater, Schulenburg High, where he served as an assistant coach in football, junior high basketball and baseball for the past four years. At Liberty, Kutac will serve as an assistant football coach in addition to his head baseball coach duties. He also teaches geometry. Kutac said the Liberty Panthers graduated only two seniors on the baseball team this year.

“We’re bringing back quite a few juniors and a few sophomores and freshmen who will impact us next year,” Kutac said.
