The La Grange volleyball team swept Navasota in dominating fashion Tuesday 25-15, 25-11, 25-17.

The victory improves the Lady Leps’ overall record to 21-12 and 8-3 in district and officially clinches a playoff berth for La Grange with a week-and-a-half left in the regular season.

“The girls have worked since 12:01 a.m. on August 1st and this was a goal, to get into the playoffs, and we’re in it. Securing this is exciting for us,” said first-year La Grange head coach Cierra McCain. “We actually did a lot of crazy things tonight, playing around with things (because of the dominating nature of Tuesday’s win the Lady Leps played with a lot of different combinations of players), but the girls’ volleyball IQ is very high so they were able to adapt.”

Avery Griffin led the way for La Grange offensively with 10 kills. Brion Williams and Campbell Cooper each had six kills and Hannah Gross had five.

Ashtyn Smith led in digs with 10 and Gabby Hollek had 21 assists.

That total helped push Hollek over the 1,000 career assist mark, a milestone she celebrated with her teammates after Tuesday’s game.

“Gabby is awesome, she worked really hard for this and she deserves it,” McCain said.

The Lady Leps return to action Friday at home versus Brookshire Royal.
