Krupala Headed to State in Powerlifting

La Grange High School’s Erick Guevara and Cody Krupala competed in the THSPA Region 4 Division 2 powerlifting meet March 7th in Colmesneil High School.

Erick Guevara competed in 220 lb weight class where he finished 10th and Cody Krupala competed in the 123 lb weight class and medaled by finishing 5th. However this isn’t the end of the road for Cody. Every weight class has a qualifying total, and if you hit it at the regional meet, then you qualify for state, and Cody did just that by lifting a total of 950 lbs. to punch his ticket to state.

“ I have worked with Cody since his freshman year, and every year the goal always was state,” said La Grange powerlifting coach Carlos Guevara. “Last year he fell short and going into his senior year he worked his butt off to be able to accomplish a goal he set for himself four years ago. Cody is a model student athlete and it has been an honor to coach him and I am excited to have one last meet with him at the biggest stage.”

Cody will compete at the THSPA Divison 2 State powerlifting meet in Abilene at the Taylor County Expo Center on March 22.
