Hofferek Scores Twice as the LG Girls Win Playoff Opener

The La Grange girls soccer team is headed to the second round of the playoffs – tying the longest postseason run in Lady Leps’ soccer history.

The La Grange girls head to the second round thanks to a 4-0 win over Navasota in a bidistrict playoff game Friday in Rockdale.

“A pretty tight first half against a familiar opponent, which was something I expected as we worked out some jitters for our first playoff match in a couple years,” said La Grange head coach Chris Westall. “ Still, too many mistakes and missed opportunities leading into halftime. After a productive talk, the team responded and we took care of business in the second half.”

Shelby Hofferek scored two goals for La Grange and Camila Martinez and Megan Davis each scored one goal. Kaelyn Ortiz had an assist and the defensive player of the game was Ellee Sodolak.

The Lady Leps are now 14- 5-2 overall this season and face Salado (17-6-3) in the second round Tuesday March 30 in Rockdale at 7 p.m.

* Four of the five Lady Leps’ losses have come to teams (Giddings and Bay City) that are undefeated this season.
