High School Volleyball Roundup

The La Grange volleyball team lost to visiting Lexington Friday 22-25, 15-25, 25-13, 17- 25 as the Lady Leps fall to 3-8 overall.

Lexington made it to the state tournament last year and returns many of their key players from that team.

“They are good. They have a very smart setter and a very scrappy libero. We had a hard time putting the ball down tonight,” said La Grange head coach Leslie Coltrain. “But there were times when we looked really, really good. That third set (the one of the four that La Grange did win Friday) was as on-point as we’ve looked all season.”

The La Grange players know the overall record is not a major focus right now.

“Right now is not the big picture. The big picture is district play,” said La Grange senior Natalie Blackwell. “We’re focusing on playing as a team, building chemistry and playing through the adversity.”

The Lady Leps host perennial power Bellville Tuesday at 6 p.m. and then host Schulenburg Friday at 5:30 p.m.

• The La Grange JV defeated Lexington 25-18, 25-22 Friday to improve their record to 3-8.
