Hallettsville Beats Schulenburg 40-7; Horns Fall to 2-3 Overall
The Schulenburg Shorthorns lost their third game in a row Friday, falling to state-ranked Hallettsville 40-7.
It was also the third straight week the Shorthorns have been unable to score more than seven points in a game.
Hallettsville, which is ranked No. 4 in the state in Class 3A, ran for 297 yards against Schulenburg and three rushing TDs from Price Pruett, who ran for 109 yards.
Schulenburg’s only score came in the first quarter when Desmond Lewis rushed for a two-yard touchdown. That gave the Shorthorns a 7-0 lead they held until early in the second quarter before Hallettsville scored 40 unanswered points the rest of the way.
The loss dropped Schulenburg’s record to 2-3 as they prepare for their final non-district game this Friday at Luling, which had a 1-3 record. Luling’s lone win was a 17-7 victory over Weimar on Sept 10, which snapped a 32-game losing streak for the Eagles.
