Friday Football Previews
La Grange vs. Caldwell
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Caldwell
Records: La Grange is 2-4 overall and 1-0 in district. Caldwell is 0-6 and 0-1.
Of Note: What a difference the last few weeks have made for the Leps. After starting the season 0-4, La Grange has won two in a row and is coming off a 36-21 win over Smithville in the district opener that shows that they will be a major factor in the district playoff race. The success should continue this week against a winless Caldwell team that has really struggled and is coming off a 56-7 loss to Gonzales. The Hornets are averaging less that 10 points scored per game, while allowing 40 points a game ... The Leps got three second half touchdown passes from Clayton Cooper last week and the junior QB also ran for 94 yards. Leps Junior RB Le’Kayvion Broussard ran for 95 yards last week and two scores.
Last meeting: La Grange defeated Caldwell 44-10 last season as the Leps ran for 435 yards and five touchdowns (two from Jaden Williams, and one each from C.J. Davis, Jakobe Wilkerson and Bear Meng).

Schulenburg vs. Flatonia
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Flatonia
Records: Flatonia is 5-2 overall and 2-1 in district. Schulenburg is 3-3 and 2-0.
Of Note: The battle between these Fayette County neighbors has rarely seemed more closely matched as both teams bring twogame district win streaks into this contest ... Schulenburg started district with a one-point overtime win over Thorndale and a 10-0 over Hearne, and had last week off to prepare for this game.. Flatonia has been thriving in close games. Their last five have been decided by a touchdown or less, and the Bulldogs have won four of those, including last week’s 21-19 win over Hearne in which the Bulldogs snagged five interceptions (three by Beck Zimmerman and two by Keegan Green).
Last meeting: Flatonia beat Schulenburg 42-7 last season as Jaidyn Guyton caught two TDs passes and ran for another touchdown. The Shorthorns only score came on a TD pass from Aaron Janecek to Kenny Schramek.
