Canyon Lake’s Slot-T offensive attack saw six different guys carry the ball last week in a 24-22 loss to 4A No. 4 ranked Wimberley, But Canyon Lake can pass the ball well too. Schulenburg vs. Brazos

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Brazos

Records: Schulenburg is 1-0. Brazos is 0-1.

Of Note: The Walt Brock-era at Schulenburg could not have started much better. In his first game as Shorthorn head coach Brock led them to a 40-0 win over Stockdale. Brett Janecek ran for a touchdown and threw for three TDs (as part of a 269 yard passing night) while the Shorthorn defense limited Stockdale to just 116 total yards. But things get tougher this week for Schulenburg. 3A Brazos is coming off a 21-15 loss to Anderson-Shiro. Brazos never trailed in that game until the fourth quarter. Brazos went 3-8 last season but does return seven starters on offense and seven starters on defense from last year’s team, including quarterback Jared Demny.

Stockdale vs. Flatonia

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Stockdale struggled to a 40-0 loss at Schulenburg. The game might not have been as bad as the final score indicated as Stockdale trailed just 6-0 at halftime before things fell apart in the second half. Stockdale quarterback Cutter Clancy threw three interceptions. Jake Gann ran for 46 yards, part of a night when Stockdale only amassed 116 total yards.

Up next: Flatonia hosts Falls City next week for homecoming.
