Of Note: Flatonia had a smashing debut last week under new head coach Brent Mascheck as the Bulldogs ran for 449 yards in a 49-26 victory over St. Paul, but things will get a lot harder this week as the Bulldogs face a Hallettsville team that is coming off a 41-8 win over perennial state title contender Shiner. Hallettsville, a Class 3A team, returns seven offensive and five defensive starts from last year’s team that went 7-4. Hallettsville has a new head coach, Levi Montgomery, who was an assistant at Cuero last season. Last week Flatonia ran for 449 yards and got two touchdowns from Keegan Green and two from Kobe Burton.

Last meeting: Last year Hallettsville defeated Flatonia 34-14 in the Bulldogs’ only regular season loss. Flatonia QB Fidel Venegas threw for 117 yards and ran for 41 but it was not enough.
