Fayetteville’s Lawson Fritsch Soaring to New Heights in Pole Vault, Baseball
Fayetteville baseball player Lawson Fritsch has impressed in a variety of ways in more than one sport.
Fritsch is also on the track team and brought home district and area titles in pole vault, along with a team area title in the 4x400 relay.
Fritsch accomplished all this while being a key contributor to a surging Fayetteville baseball team.
“Lawson’s one of our hardest working athletes that we have, boy or girl, in all of our programs,” said Fayetteville head baseball coach Clint Jaeger. “He puts a lot of time in – extra time that’s not with the coaches, just on his own. A working example would be pole vault. He puts so much time and effort in that and he’s gotten a lot better. In the weight room, he’s gotten a lot faster and a lot stronger just from this year only. He’s a good athlete and a hard worker.”
Question: Pole vault seems like an event where it’s a must to have good technique, what kind of practice goes into pole vault?
Answer: “Everyday, me and my coach will go out and I’ll do some little drills at first, then I’ll move back to long See run. Also in the weight room, I do drills for my abs and stuff.”
Question: Who’s your favorite Major League Baseball player and why?
Answer: “Mike Trout. He’s a good contributor and I just really like that about him.”
Question: What’s your mindset going into regionals for track?
Answer: “I’ll have to perform the best I’ve ever performed and hopefully can clear 12-6. I’m pretty sure I’ll be guaranteed to go to state if I can clear 12-6. For the 4x4, I’m gonna have to step up and try to run the fastest time I’ve ever ran.”

Answer: “Lemon-lime”
Question: If you could travel somewhere outside of the country, where would you go?
Answer: “Australia”

Answer: “Tom & Jerry”
Question: Who’s an actor or actress you like?
Answer: “Tom Hanks”
Question: If you had tickets to any sporting event of your choice, which event would you go to?
Answer: “A baseball game for the Astros.”
Question: Pizza, chicken, or burgers?
Answer: “Pizza”
Question: What’s an activity you do in Fayetteville outside of school and sports?
Answer: “We’ll go in the gym and we’ll just go play basketball during our free time with friends and stuff.”
