Fayetteville Has Impressive & Festive Start to 2022 Baseball Season

The defending state champion Fayetteville baseball team started its 2022 season last week in strong fashion at their 1A showcase home tournament – and also honored the school’s three state baseball title teams in a special reunion ceremony Saturday.

The Lions tied Abbott 9-9 in the season opener Thursday and then beat Hubbard 16-1 (Keagan Supak pitched a complete game one-hitter), Runge 13-1 (Brody Dooley drove in three) and Benavides 12-0 (Travis Gully had three hits).

On Saturday, pennants that will be on display at the field were presented to the state title teams. Pennants were donated by FISD Athletic Booster Club Officers: Amy Fritsch, Dawn Supak, Brandy Gross and Rachel Kubala.
