Dobbins Suffers Season-Ending Injury in Opener

It was a tragic start to the season for La Grange’s J.K. Dobbins as he tore his Achilles tendon in the first game of the season Sunday as his Baltimore Ravens beat the Houston Texans 25-9.

Dobbins scored the Raven’s first touchdown of the season, but on a pass play later in the game he was tackled and suffered the injury, which will end his season. Dobbins, who 10 years ago was a freshman starter for the Leps, is in his fourth season in the NFL. He had strong first and third seasons with the Ravens, sandwiched around a 2021 season that he missed entirely because of a knee injury.

“Just kind of crestfallen for him,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “We will put our arms around him, and he’ll get into rehab, and he will be back [next season].”

Dobbins, 24, was entering the final year of his first NFL contract. In March he will become an unrestricted free agent.
