RTC Baseball

The Round Top-Carmine baseball team earned a playoff spot with a 2-1 tiebreaker win over Richards Monday. Tanner and Hunter Schobel combined on one hitter with 19 strikeouts. The Cubs now advance to face High Island Friday in Waller.

Fayetteville Baseball

• In a playoff warm-up game Monday the Fayetteville baseball team defeated Burton 3-2. Parker Vitek hit a two-run homer and Jake Kubala had the other RBI for the Lions. Five different pitchers threw for Fayetteville. The Lions begin a best-of-three series against Spurger Friday at 5 p.m. at Sam Houston State University. Game 2 follows Game 1. If necessary a Game 3 would be in Hunstville at 1 p.m.

La Grange Baseball

• The La Grange baseball team opens the playoffs with a one game series Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Waller against Houston Mickey Leland High School. The winner advances to face the China Spring/Gateway Prep winner.

Schulenburg Softball

• The Schulenburg Lady Horns play in the area round of the playoffs against Refugio. All games are at Cuero. Game 1 is Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Game 2 is Friday at 6 p.m. with a third game to follow if necessary.

Flatonia Baseball

• The Flatonia baseball team opens the playoffs with a best-of-three series against Bracketville. All games are at Harper ISD. Game 1 is Friday at 4:30 p.m. Game 2 follows Game 1. If necessary a Game 3 would be Saturday at 2 p.m.
