Billed as one of the world’s largest pole vault tournaments, Port Aransas Beach Vault staged its recent annual tournament Saturday, June 17, with WISD’s Katharina Chaloupka “flying” off with first place and capturing two personal records at this prestigious meet. Fighting record temperatures, the 340 plus participants from all over had an opportunity to meet and work with other young adults that share their passion and love of pole vault, including Katharina with her Frio Vault Club group.
Katharina is a junior at Weimar ISD and the daughter of David and Cathy Chaloupka and granddaughter to Irene Handley of Hallettsville.
