Broussard Coming Off a Monster Week for LG Football

La Grange junior football player Le’Kayvion Broussard is a running back who’s been a workhorse to start the season.

In last Friday’s game against Columbus, he carried the ball 24 times for 78 yards and a touchdown to go along with 13 receptions for 77 yards. Broussard also qualified for state track last year on the Leopards relay team.

“First thing, fierce competitor,” said La Grange head football coach Kyle Cooper. “The guy is a fierce competitor. He wants to do things right. He’s a very versatile back. I mean, he’s a total package. He’s getting out of the backfield, catching balls, running the football extremely tough. Gonna be able to get him down field in some stuff, so he really opens up the offense for us because of his versatility. We’re very fortunate to have him.”

Broussard’s ground and pound nature has given him the nod for this edition’s Athlete of the Week.

Question: What are some bright spots you’ve noticed from this year’s team?

Answer: “Running the ball. I like to run the ball a lot. Follow my linemen, like on two power and three power. Flares, I like to do flares. Get a couple yards on that.”

Question: What are some things you like about the new coaching staff?

Answer: “I like how we play fast. It wears the defense out. It’s just all-around different.”

Question: Who’s a running back you model your game after?

Answer: “Alvin Kamara. I like the way he runs. He runs the ball hard. He’s good. I want to be like him.”

Question: You qualified for state track last year, what was your favorite part about University of Texas campus?

Answer: “It was a good experience. I’d never been there before, so it was cool.”

Question: Who’s a teammate you celebrate with the most on the field after a good play?

Answer: “Whoever’s just right there. I don’t find a specific player.”

Question: If you received a full-ride scholarship to any school of your choice for football, which school would you choose and why?

Answer: “LSU because I like their colors. It’s just like La Grange. I like Louisiana.”

Question: Which would you rather have, McDonalds or Whataburger?

Answer: “Whataburger” Question: What part of school do you look forward to the most each day?

Answer: “Lunch and athletics. I don’t really like the classes, to be honest.” Broussard’s rushing attack adds another lethal piece to La Grange’s already high-powered offense.
