8th Grade Leps Beat Smithville

Thursday, Nov. 5, the 8th grade La Grange Leopards hosted the Tigers from Smithville. The first play of the game resulted in a 59 yard touchdown run off the left edge from La’Kayvion Broussard, followed by a kicked PAT by Kole Knarvek, to give the Leopards a 7-0 lead. After a defensive stop, the next offensive play went 73 yards off the right edge by a run from Kameron Leonard. A pass from quarterback Max Dixon to Leonard put the Leps. up 15-0 and the route was on. The Leopards gave up a long run for a Tiger touchdown and on their second offensive play of the 1st Quarter, the Leopards again scored on a double pass from Peyton Cassell to Corey Powell from 55 yards out. The two-point conversion failed and the quarter ended with the Leps up 21-8. In the second quarter the Leopards again scored on a 35 yard scamper by QB Dixon off the right side. This time the two point pass from Dixon to Leonard was good and the Leopards took a 29-8 lead into the half. As the Tigers were threatening to score in the third quarter, an interception by Leonard at the goal line put an end to the threat.

The Leopards scored their final touchdown on the subsequent drive on a screen throwback from QB Dixon to fullback Knarvek that went for 50 yards. Dixon hit Leonard again for a two pt. conversion making the score 37-8. The Leopards gave up a late touchdown to Smithville and on the final drive, an interception by Dixon ended the game. The final score 37-15. The Leopards thank you for their support throughout the year and look forward to big things next year.
