The 2025 Fayette County Fair Bar-B-Q Cookoff was held Saturday at the fairgrounds in La Grange. David’s Tofel’s Team “Good and Ready” repeated as county grand champs.

The Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum is opening its doors to young readers and their families for a day of fairy tale magic. On Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., children are invited to join Little Readers, Big Adventures, a free early childhood literacy event presented in partnership with Parents as Teachers and BRIDGE.

Clergy and lay leaders and members of various communities will gather for an ecumenical event at the Hallettsville Brahma Memorial Stadium the Annual Blessing of the New School Year on Wednesday, Sept. 3 beginning at 7 p.m.

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is gearing up once again to have “Sunday Vittles” on Sunday, Aug. 31. They are hosting Jackie Cox as their special guest for the day. Jackie will be bringing his music and the word for that Sunday. He is an award-winning singer/ songwriter. Here is a chance to enjoy some wonderful music, hear a great sermon and then dig into some delicious food. It is a pot luck dinner, so bring along your favorite dish to share and then get a chance to sample everyone else’s dishes to see what you might like to try back home yourself. Fellowship on Sunday mornings begins at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and sweet treats followed by worship at 10 a.m.

A fried chicken dinner fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21, sponsored by the Carmine Hall.
