The Blinn College District Paramedic Program recently welcomed 11 new graduates to the profession during a pinning ceremony at the Blinn RELLIS Administration Building at TexasA&M-RELLIS, including Sean Patton of Flatonia.

ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard is reportedly facing serious health problems that have already begun affecting the legendary rock band’s tour. Beard, 77, was absent when ZZ Top performed in Saratoga, California, on Saturday, August 8, with Michael Monahan filling in behind the drums. TMZ reported that Beard is currently dealing with “serious health issues,” though the exact nature of his condition has not been disclosed. The band also abruptly canceled its August 5 performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. ZZ Top’s iconic song ‘La Grange’ made this town a household name. The band’s show at the Fayette County Fair back in 2015 remains the most attended event in fair history with an estimated crowd of 18,000.

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $3,000 to be a sponsor of the 7th Annual Back-2-School Festival c/o Tejas Health Care. Monies donated provided backpacks, prefilled with school supplies for students in need to be successful in the classroom. The Blinn College District recently celebrated 26 licensed vocational nurses (LVN) and 12 paramedics who completed either Blinn’s LVN-Transition or Paramedic-to-RN Transition pathway to earn their Associate of Applied Science in Nursing.Among the graduates were Mariel Hernandez of La Grange. She is the daughter of Adolfo Hernandez and Patricia Hernandez. Mariel is a 2017 La Grange High School graduate. Blinn’s 60-credithour LVN-Transition and Paramedic-to-RN Transition pathways are accelerated programs that allow LVNs and paramedics to build upon their extensive medical training and experience to become registered nurses.
