It is with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulates the following students on being named to the Spring 2026 President’s List: Courtney Boney of La Grange, and Stephanie Underwood of La Grange.

A recent generous monetary donation by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 was received by the Veterans Outreach Program sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary 5254 of La Grange and benefits the VA Clinic in La Grange. The clinic was contacted and gave insight into what was needed by the Veterans; then items were purchased and delivered to the VA clinic. Brittney Schneider, AMSA, second from left, received the items for the VA Clinic from Becky Leer, VFW Auxiliary 5254 Chairman of the Veterans Outreach Program, center, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 members from left, President Andy Janda, Roy Behler, and Pat Lyons. Also donated were two cases of Girl Scout cookies by Girl Scout Troup 1011 of La Grange, Troop Leader Kristi Jackson.

On April 18, cookoff teams from all over Texas came to compete in the 4th Annual Texas Burger Bash. As a first-time competitor, Jay Dee’z Sports Grill took home the Grand Champion prize, along with $250 cash, a Blackstone grill, and a Championship ring.

Seven students from Fayette County have been selected to participate in Camp Shakespeare this summer. Those students are: Remi Denham, Carolina Lira, Delilah Citzler, Sofia Meneses, Holden Mikulin, Fallon Miller and MaeBess Huette.

Jeremy Janda and his sons Will and Reed, all of La Grange, gave a fascinating presentation to the La Grange Noon Lions last week. The trio showed off dozens of arrowheads and other Native American artifacts that they have found on their land.

St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin will have their Annual Church Picnic on Sunday May 24. English worship service is at 8:30 a.m. Barbecue sold by the pound only (boneless beef, pork and chicken) from 9 a.m. till sold out. The Ladies Aid stand will sell sides of potato salad, beans, noodles and pastries of all kinds. They will also have a bake sale, of home baked and canned goods. There will be a silent auction as well.

M Harold Boehnke is pleased to share that his grandson, Matthew Miori, a member of Tomball ISD’s Creekside Park Junior High football coaching staff, was part of the team honored by the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association as the “2025–26 Junior High Staff of the Year.” The recognition was presented May 3 at the Klein Multi-Purpose Center and is awarded annually to a junior high football staff in the Greater Houston area demonstrating exceptional commitment to its program and student athletes. The staff was recognized for the “countless hours, dedication, and heart poured into developing young athletes into leaders—both on and off the field.” Miori is the son of Kim and Tony Miori and was a graduate of La Grange High School, where he also played football.
