Solar Energy Hub in Muldoon

    Solar Energy Hub in Muldoon

There is big news in the area. Muldoon is becoming a solar energy hub with multiple solar companies moving into the area. One of the companies, who have purchased land, has begun setting up operations.

The company has brought in heavy equipment and have started clearing the land off FM 154. The dozers and mulchers can be heard in and around the area. Bulldozers are reshaping some of the big rock croppings, while the mulchers are taking out the heavy mesquite, cedars and post oak trees. The work can be heard especially in the mornings all around the area. This property will come back around to FM 2237. The section along FM 2237 land is not being cleared yet. They have been doing lots of survey work along the roadways.

Land clearing operations can be seen off FM 154 with a hill being exposed that was not noticeable before. It has been covered in heavy brush for many, many years. These companies are changing the look of the area. The land improvement can be a nice change, but with that change it will be transforming the land from cattle production which it had been in for over 75 years by the Cherry family.

There are a number of solar companies that have leased land in the area and will be moving in slowly. With all these changes there will be more workers and vehicles coming and going in and around Muldoon. Be aware of the increase in traffic and take more care while out and about.

Pin Oak Cemetery Pin Oak Cemetery held their semiannual cleaning on April 7. Seven people with ties to the historic cemetery came out to clean up and do as much improvements as they could in a day. They rebuilt the old outhouse that was falling down and John Coppedge was also busy replacing more of the decorative iron fences and gates on some of the oldest graves.

When they held their business meeting it was decided to postpone the upcoming “Rededication Ceremony” until further notice to give them more time to get the cemetery into the best condition it can be with all the restoration of the beautiful iron work. The next cemetery meeting/cleaning will be on Oct. 15.
