Sew Sisters Hit the Road for Quilt Shop Adventure
I took off on a Quilt Shop Hop with sew sisters, Kim Bonewald and Trisha Griste for a couple days of fabric acquisition. I met up with them in Flatonia and headed to our first shop in Luling to pick up our “pass” and then on to one of our favorite shops in Mc-Queeney that was not on the hop. We then drove on into San Antonio to the Mesquite Bean Quilt Shop to get our passes stamped. On the way out to Bandera and the next shop we stopped to have lunch at a barbecue place along the way.
In Bandera we got our passes stamped at Gone Quilting and picked up a few more pieces of fabric. Since we could not make the next shop on the hop by closing time, we chose to head to Fredericksburg to explore another quilt shop, Things in a Room.
After finding yet more unique fabrics we decided to make another unplanned stop at another favorite shop not on the hop in Blanco. Uptown Blanco Textiles was a slip in just before closing time stop to admire some beautiful fabric before heading towards north Austin and our accommodations. On the way we stopped for some Asian Fusion food to try out some new foods.
The second day was a “short day” with only three shops left to get our passports stamped by. The day started off in Round Rock at Austin Sewing and went on to Honey Bee before having to travel across Austin to our last shop, B&B Quilting in Buda. We turned in our passes for a chance at prizes, but we did not win any this round. We came home with more projects to make and some more fabric for our stashes and lots of good stories of quilting adventures to tell until next time.
Rain
Muldoon saw some rain recently. Around a half inch fell one day with the push of some moisture from the Gulf. There have been a few days when a few drops fell, and in the dry conditions we currently have, every drop helps.
Roberta Gullick’s granddaughter, Alyssa Foley in the Livingston area got flooded by the downpours of Tropical Storm Eduardo. Meanwhile in Muldoon Roberta lost her TV antenna to some of the strong winds blowing through the area.
Out and About
James and I enjoyed having our grandsons, Ira and Jaxon Ivy come to visit. Their dad, Andy Ivy brought the boys to join us at church at Flatonia Baptist Church and then we all came home to enjoyed visiting the cows, driving the tractor and just a little Muldoon country fun.
Church News
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is really active this fall. They are going hard at it on building their new facility at their new property off FM 609. If you are driving down FM 609 just take a look over at all the progress they have going on at the corner of Valenta Lane.
Coming up next on the SG2C schedule is a Friday Team Roping on Sept. 18 at the Fayette County Sheriff Posse Areana. Not far off is the 4th Annual Fall Round Up at the SG2C Fall Round Up on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. A chuck wagon lunch will be available for a free will donation. Some of the fun planned are pony rides a general store; cake walk and so much more including a heifer raffle. Chances are available from any SG2C member for $20. For your shopping pleasure there will be vendors with all kinds of wares for you to check out. So, make sure you have it down on your calendars and make plans to come out to the family friendly event. Come and check out their new property at 6240 FM 609. Neighborhood Watch
As we go into Fall, watch out for your neighbors and if you see something that seems “off” or someone strange is on their property, give that neighbor a call and just make sure everything is good. Get to know your neighbors and keep on the alert. There have been a few things happening in the community where members of the community contacted each other to let them know something was happening and to keep an eye out.
