Pin Oak Cemetery to Host Cleanup And Business Meeting April 18
The historic Pin Oak Cemetery will be holding their biannual clean up and business meeting on Saturday, April 18 from around 9 a.m. - noon, at which time there will be a short business meeting. Anyone with ties to the cemetery or those interested in the history of the area are invited to come out and help keep this historic cemetery in good repair. Bring your yard working tools and come make a difference in the upkeep of our local history.
While helping you can take a walk through the history of the area and Texas as there are some very interesting graves and stories of those people buried there. This is a great time to learn so much more of local history and lore.
Church News
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is in full swing for their Old-Fashioned Tent Revival. Saturday, April 18, beginning at 4 p.m. at their property off Valenta Road and FM 609 the excitement begins. The program will include: Dwyane Williams, Christina Scott, Calep Lewis, and Jackie Cox. This will be some great music and wonderful messages. If you have not heard any of this crew, then be sure and come out. The Chuckwagon will be there to offer food and drinks for those in attendance. So come out, bring a lawn chair and experience a tent rocking good time and hear some top-notch country gospel music.
Then on Sunday morning at SG2C, Dwyane Williams will be bringing the message. Fellowship with coffee and a sweet treat starts at 9:30 a.m. and worship begins at 10 a.m.
The Ladies’ Bible Study on Tuesday mornings at SG2C is underway. “The Women of the Bible Speak” by Shannon Bream led by Chris Leviton. Area ladies are welcome to join in just come out at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays or call Chris at (979) 702-0715 for more information.
Out and About
The Moody Center inAustin was the site recently of a concert by the musical group Journey. This group has been around since the 1970s, so the audience covered a wide range of ages including Ron and Pam Knotts. Before the concert Ron and Pam took the opportunity to eat at PF Chang in downtown Austin. Then they went off to find the parking garage and hike to the concert site. Another long hike inside the Center was well worth it for a great concert. Breakfast the next morning was at the Toasty Badger, a cute cafe on South Congress. It was another culinary experience to top off another great musical adventure.
Jennifer and Clay Rightmer hosted Easter at their home. They enjoyed having daughter Lane Rightmer; Wade and Karen Howard and their daughter Georgia; Julia Zavala and her daughter Kaylin Zavala and her boyfriend Michael; along with Clay’s parents, Billy and Harold Rightmer. They all enjoyed a really nice time visiting, catching up and just relaxing in the country.
Devon Boehnke, Dana and Darrell Kulak traveled on Saturday to Magnolia to Devon’s oldest daughter and son in law, Beth and Jack Field’s home in Magnolia for their early Easter celebration.
Nancie and Billy Blair went to east Tawakoni to Nancie’s sister and brother-in-law, Lu and Fred Ginapp’s home. They all traveled on to the season opener to the Texas Rangers’ game. They had great seats for game thanks to Fred even if the game did not go as they had hoped. On the way home Nancie did get Billy to stop and let her do some shopping at the quilt shop at the Heritage Quilt Barn outside Waco and did a little more shopping and got some BBQ on the way home.
James, Bobby and I traveled to San Antonio for Easter at my sister and brother-inlaw, Jan and Jarvis Anderson’s home.
