Lincoln & Continental Owner’s Club Coming Back to La Grange This Weekend
Cars on Display on the Courthouse Square This Saturday Morning
The Lincoln & Continental Owner’s Club (LCOC) will be coming to La Grange, TX for the 5th time to celebrate our 36th Annual all Texas Tri Regional Spring meet on May 1-3.
A Little History
The national Lincoln & Continental Owner’s Club (LCOC) was formed in 1953 by former Ford Motor Company employees and enthusiasts in Michigan, to recognize and preserve the historically classic 1940-1948 Continentals. As interest spread, other regions were formed and other models of Lincoln and Continental’s were invited to join. Today there are 22 regional clubs that make up the national organization. In Texas there are three regions. Membership is open to anyone interested in Lincoln & Continental vehicles. Ownership of a Lincoln or Continental is not a requirement for membership. However, membership in the national organization (LCOC) is a prerequisite to joining a local region.
National has members in Europe, Japan, South America, along with regional clubs in Norway and the United Kingdom, making (LCOC) a truly international organization.
38 years ago this April, the three Texas Regions of the Lincoln and Continental Owner’s Club joined for the first time to put on a car show in Salado, Texas and have continued to do so ever since. Due to Covid, we missed two years and then moved to La Grange. For the 5th year, Russell Joseph (a native son of La Grange) and wife Elise, have graciously agreed to host this year’s LCOC “Meet and Greet,” Friday night hospitality party at his La Grange Motor Company. In the early 1900s, the La Grange Motor Company building originally housed the first La Grange Ford dealership which was owned and operated by Russell’s grandfather & great uncle, Leo H. Frede & Herbert A. Frede. Later in the 1960s it became a Ford-Mercury dealership. Russell has reacquired the building and repurposed it to house his personal American car collection.
There will be light judging to help members get their cars ready for National LCOC Meets. Awards will be presented to the attendees at an awards ceremony at the La Grange Motor Company on Saturday evening.
The attendee’s cars will be on display on the grounds of the La Grange Motor Co. at 140 S. Washington St., for the public to view on Saturday May 2 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Unfortunately the deadline to show was April 15th, but anyone wanting to attend our meet is welcome. Sorry for the short notice. Please contact Craig Adams (craigadamshou@ gmail.com) or Gary Birk (gbirk10@yahoo.com) for club membership registration if you are interested.
