Annual You Matter Beard & Moustache Competition Jan. 20

The You Matter Beard & Moustache Competition is in it’s third year and will be donating all of the proceeds to the Wellness Council of the greater Colorado Valley.

In the first two years, the competition has been able to raise $55,000, allowing the council to assist the Colorado County Sheriff’s department in hiring a mental health deputy.

The mental health deputy has been able to decrease the crisis intervention needs by 28% in 2023 alone. Those crisis interventions include deescalation of crisis situations and home visits to known community members with chronic mental health challenges. He has also interacted with schools and civic organizations to provide information and create awareness campaigns.

The You Matter 3 beard and moustache competition is Jan. 20 beginning at noon at the Historic Casino Hall. There are categories for everyone including kids and women that can make a “craft” beard.
