Lois Verlie Wunderlich passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on Sept. 23, 1936, in Carmine, Lois spent her life devoted to her husband and her family.

Lois was the wife of Delton Wunderlich, with whom she shared sixty-eight years of unwavering partnership and love. Together, they built a life rich in joy and purpose, a testament to their enduring commitment to one another. Lois’s legacy continues through her beloved children, Dr. Terry Wunderlich and his wife Nancy of Brenham, and Tammy Sodolak and her husband Kenny of Bernardo. Her spirit will forever be reflected in the lives of her grandchildren, Drs. Peter and Kris Wunderlich, Julie and Kevin Pittman, Matt and Kara Sodolak, Paul and Katy Wunderlich, and Dayne Wunderlich, as well as her great-grandchildren, Calvin, Nolan, Lonna, and Faith Wunderlich, Bryna and Harper Pittman, Kenley Sodolak, and Wyatt Wunderlich, who

brought her immeasurable happiness.

Lois is also survived by her sister, Joyce Fuchs of Carmine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Selma and Herbert Ullrich, and her brother, Lloyd.

Lois was baptized on Nov. 8, 1936 and confirmed on Sept. 24, 1950 at Martin Luther Church in Carmine. She was a graduate of Round Top Carmine High School where she distinguished herself as the class valedictorian in 1955.

On Oct. 6, 1956, Lois married her childhood sweetheart, Delton, marking the beginning of a journey filled with love, support, and mutual respect. Professionally, Lois dedicated many years to the Fayette County ASCS office located in La Grange, where her intelligence and work ethic were greatly valued. She retired on Nov. 3, 1994.

Lois’s interests reflected her love for life and her desire to pass on her knowledge to the next generations. An adept seamstress, she found joy in sewing, and her gardens were a testament to her skill in nurturing growth, both in plants and in people. Canning the fruits of her labor was not only a practical skill but also an act of love, ensuring that her family would always have a piece of home, no matter where life took them. Lois relished the time spent on the farm with Delton and their travels to their ranch in Mason. Watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and show animals brought her immense pride and joy.

Lois approached every challenge with grace and every celebration with warmth, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Her guidance and wisdom will continue to resonate with her family and all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her presence.

Lois Verlie Wunderlich lived a life that was as rich in love as it was in accomplishments. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her love felt always. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we find peace in knowing that her legacy will live on through the lives of those she loved so dearly.
