Fuchs

Joyce Lydia (Ullrich) Fuchs, 93 of Carmine, passed away on Aug. 17, 2026 in La Grange.

Joyce was born on June 20, 1933, in Carmine to Herbert and Selma (Kiel) Ullrich. She was baptized and confirmed in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. She had a wonderful life in the country and married Howard Fred Fuchs on March 7, 1953 in the same church. They enjoyed many years of dancing together, especially to the Dujka Brothers. They were married for 59 years, raised two daughters and were blessed with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Joyce was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in working with her hands and caring for her family. She loved gardening and took pride in canning and preserving the fruits of her labor. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing most all of her daughters’ clothing throughout their childhood. She was especially known for growing the best strawberries. Joyce often shared the abundance from her garden with others, selling fresh corn, potatoes, onions, green beans, and pecans.

She was a loving partner to Howard in their farming endeavors. Together, they raised hogs and cattle and worked the many crops on their farm. Joyce and Howard shared a deep appreciation for country life, enjoying the smell of freshly plowed fields and newly cut hay. Joyce and Howard also processed their own meat and took great pleasure in making and enjoying homemade sausage.

Joyce was deeply involved in her community and her faith. She was a lifelong member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school during her younger years. She was also a longtime member of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338, proudly serving as a member for 72 years after joining on June 1, 1954.

Joyce was a Texas A&M and RTC sports fan. She loved watching games and especially enjoyed listening to the radio when her grandsons were playing. She took great pride in following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games and cheering them on.

Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Larry Teinert of Giddings; son-in-law, Roy Wied of Carmine; grandchildren: Christie and Blake Goehring, Amy and Tanner Weinert, Trent and Liz Teinert and Travis and Eagle Teinert; great-grandchildren include: Ryker Goehring, Kannyn Goehring, Teague Weinert, Talon Weinert, Ella Teinert and Adeline Teinert.
