Roger Dale Weyand, 76 of Longpoint, passed away on March 30, 2025 in Brenham.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1948 to Eunell Spies Weyand and Kearney Bellvue Weyand in Round Top, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Roger graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School and Blinn College and loved making the rounds in his ’57 Chevy. While going to college he laid rock part-time for the Harvin Moores and became a master stonemason and bricklayer and is known for constructing many fireplaces and buildings including cairns around Chappell Hill, Independence, Round Top and Winedale.

He was also a talented musician who not only sang, but was a member of the Melody Playboys Band along with his brother and dad who often played for reunions and dances in the 60s. Roger could play the guitar and trumpet.

Playing the stock market, watching NASCAR and ice hockey were some of Roger’s favorite hobbies as well as taking care of the family place at Round Top.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Kearney and Eunell Weyand, an infant sister and brother, his grandparents: Benno and Alma Cordes Spies and Alfred and Hulda Birkelbach Weyand.

A brother, Kerry Weyand, and his friend Lisa Walker survive him as well as a sister, Kay Landua and her husband, James. Two nephews are left to mourn: Axel Weyand of Colorado and Matt Lampe (Michelle) of Brenham and a niece, Shannon Bullin (Keith) of Bryan, and other numerous relatives and friends.

To follow Roger’s requests, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. He was fiercely independent and will be truly missed.
