Harold Albert Wendler, 85, of New Caney was born on March 31, 1935 in Ledbetter to Louis and Irene Wendler. He entered Heaven on Jan. 20, 2021. Harold attended Bell Settlement School and graduated from Round Top Carmine High School. Later, he attended Austin Barber College in Austin. While working as a barber in Waco, he met Shirley, his wife of 64 years.

In 1958, Harold and Shirley moved to Houston where he worked as a machinist in the oil field industry until his retirement. There they raised their daughter, Sandra. Harold was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He and Shirley were active members at Beautiful Savior Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he loved to be involved in church activities and served as a church elder.

In addition to his occupations as a barber and machinist, Harold was a lifelong farmer and cattle rancher. He loved raccoon hunting, sports, sharing historical stories, a good, clean joke, and listening to good polka music. He was a kind, genuine person and family man who loved spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors. He was always available to lend a helping hand or to give sound advice. If you needed anything, you knew you could depend on Harold.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Shirley of New Caney; daughter, Sandra Lee and husband Danny of New Caney; granddaughter, Madison Lee of New Caney; sister, Aileen Carter of Austin; sister, Estelle Hejtmancik and husband Dennis of College Station; brother-in-law, Adolph Bach Jr. of Austin; niece, Karen Blakely and husband Bob of Austin; and niece, Jill Bullard and husband Lance of College Station.
