Wells

Well

Marilyn Demerson Wells of La Grange passed away peacefully in the community where her life began.

A graduate of Lincoln High School (Class of 1966) and Prairie View A&M University (Class of 1973), she devoted 38 years to educating students in La Grange ISD and Smithville ISD, where her compassion and belief in every child left a lasting impact.

A woman of deep faith, Marilyn worshipped at Peaceful Rest Baptist Church and lived a life of service, integrity, and love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Wells; her parents, Elbert and Victoria Demerson; and her brother, Alvin Demerson.

She is survived by her sisters, Carilyn Demerson Tezeno and Jacqueline Demerson Davis; her bonus children; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and a host of extended family, friends, former students, and church family. Her legacy endures through the many lives she touched and the encouragement she offered so often: “Make Me Proud.”

A viewing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by funeral services at 1 p.m., all at New Life Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden St., La Grange.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange.
