Pauline Julia Wayman passed away in La Grange on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89.

Pauline was proceeded in death by her parents, Jules and Pauline Martin and her brother, Paul Martin.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Jay Wayman; her brother-in-law, Sam Wayman (Donna) of La Grange; her daughter, Juanita Hoffman and husband Frank of La Grange; daughter, Anita Giese and husband Gary of San Antonio; four granchildren, Heather (Kevin), Josh (Jennifer), Michele (Bryan) and Michael; six great grandchildren, Wesley, Benjamin, Zachary, Haley, Quinn and Asher, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pauline grew up in Missouri and graduated from St. James High School near Rolla, Missouri. It was in Rolla that she literally ‘fell’ in love with her handsome husbandto- be Jay at the Rolla Roller Rink when upon asking him to skate, he thought she could skate backwards and they both ended up tumbling to the floor! All was quickly forgiven and rolling forward each day afterward, their hearts were inseparable.

Shortly after their marriage, Pauline and Jay were stationed in Germany where they had the opportunity to visit several surrounding countries as well as see their many friends and family members who were also stationed in that area at the time.

Pauline had a strong Christian faith and was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of La Grange. In her early years she taught Sunday School in Oklahoma and in Corpus Christi and had a positive Christian influence on those who were lucky enough to be around her.

Pauline had many special gifts, talents and a fun sense of humor. She taught herself to play the piano and had a lovely way of rifting the end of songs that made even simple tunes sound elegant and delightful to the ear.

Pauline was a talented painter and loved painting landscapes and lovely floral compositions.

Pauline was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was greatly loved by her family and many friends with whom she kept in constant contact year after year. She was a loving person and will be truly missed.

A visitation was held at First Presbyterian Church of La Grange on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 from 12 to 1 p.m. with family present at this time to receive friends. Pauline’s funeral service followed at 1 p.m. Burial followed the church service at the Winchester City Cemetery.
