Waldvogel
Virginia Busby Waldvogel had a fortuitous start in Hattiesburg, Miss. adopted at birth by Dr. Eugene Busby and his wife Edna, née Amacher. She joined two previously adopted sons, Mike and Bob, whom she adored and remained close with all their lives (Bob passed in 2019; Mike and his wife Lynne live in Spring, Texas).
Virginia devotedly attended St. John’s Lutheran Church and excelled at Hattiesburg High School, where she was a member of the Dusty Social Club. Virginia was active in Delta Gamma Sorority while attending University of Mississippi.
Virginia’s free spirit and love of competitive barrel racing led her to meet her true love, Scottie Waldvogel, when they were only 14-years-old. Their love blossomed and endured over 55 years of marriage. They adored their sons Jason (and wife Michelle Mohon) of Galveston, and Todd (and wife Angela) of Fort Worth. Virginia cherished her relationships with Todd’s daughters Caroline (16) and Julia (13).
Virginia never pined for information about her birth mom but was recently reunited with half-siblings Libby Morris (of San Diego, Calif.) and David Morris (of Reno, Nev.).
Virginia and Scottie’s journey kept them on the move from Hattiesburg through Little Rock, New Orleans, Chicago, and multiple stops in Texas including Dallas, The Woodlands, Conroe and eventually settling in Round Top. At each destination, without fail, Virginia developed life-long friendships, a testament to her loving kindness and genuine care for people.
A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at the Round Top Library, 206 W. Mill St., Round Top, on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m.
Virginia was an ardent supporter of the community library, so in lieu of flowers consider donating a favorite book recognizing the power friendship as Virginia was an extraordinary friend to many.
We hope you can join us to celebrate the faith-filled life of our good friend.
