Voss
Voss Aleyn Voss, age 100, longtime resident of La Grange, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024.
Aleyn was born on May 14, 1923, near Round Top, the daughter of Elo and Agnes (Voelkel) Albers.
As a young child, Aleyn lived in Oldenberg, where her parents had a chicken hatchery. When the hatchery burned in 1927, the family moved to the Bluff area in La Grange. Aleyn graduated from La Grange High School in 1939, Salutatorian of her class. On Aug. 22, 1941, she married Rudolph Voss and was blessed with three sons.
She was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Aleyn lived a full life. She worked various jobs in between raising her children, including delivering newspapers and working at both Albers Hatchery and the KVLG/KBUK Radio Station. She also volunteered at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Aleyn stayed active with various hobbies and activities. She was the secretary treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 40 years. She participated on a racing team with the La Grange Volunteer Fire Department and bowled for many years in tournaments with the Hermann Sons. As an avid gardener and plant lover, she was an active member of the Fayette County Homemakers Extension Club.Aleyn loved watching or listening on the radio to sports, especially football. A highlight of her life was traveling to many places, including Europe and Hawaii.
Aleyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; sister, Vernell Zimmermann; brothers-in-law, Carl Mueller, Ted Voss, Arthur Voss, and Carl Dement; sisters in-law, Nora Pietsch, Viola Dement, and Laverne Tackett, and grandson, Tyler Voss.
She is survived by sister, Jo Ann Mueller; sister-inlaw, Eileen Voss; sons: Ralph and wife, Mary; Ronald and wife, Betty; and Wayne and wife, Marcy; grandsons: Ron Voss, Richard Voss, and Forrest Voss and wife, Savannah; granddaughters: Rebecca Bosworth and husband, Bubba, Robin Huff and husband, Vic, Christi Watson, and husband, Tres, Morgan Taylor and husband, Brent; great grandchildren: Sage Fields, Cal Huff, Hayden Huff, Quade Watson, Reid Watson, Rohre Voss, Jake Voss, Taylor Mask, and husband, Thomas, and Hazel Voss; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation was held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 1 to 7 p.m. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 110 W. Walnut St., La Grange, on Friday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. Pallbearers are Sage Fields, Cal Huff, Hayden Huff, Quade Watson, Reid Watson, and Jake Voss. Interment will be held at the La Grange Cemetery. Refreshments will follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
