Leopoldo Alberto Villarreal Jr. was called home to the Lord on Tuesday June 17, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born April 19, 1941, in Beeville to Leopoldo Sr and Hilaria (Cantu) Villarreal.

As a young man he moved to Los Angeles, Calif. and began working as a computer programmer at California Lutheran Hospital, marking the beginning of his fascination with computers. This led to him finding his dream job as a programmer at USAA and moving to San Antonio in the late 70s. After retiring from USAA, he and his brother Rene decided that the country life best suited them and they bought neighboring properties in Muldoon where they enjoyed the slow pace of life back in a small town.

Leo’s hobbies included fishing, hunting and he had a particular fondness for classic cars. He could always be found working on his ‘58 Chevy that was more than a hobby; it was a testament to his patience, skill, and love for the classics. Above all, Leo was a family man. His greatest enjoyment was the time spent with his family. He often hosted family gatherings at his little piece of paradise where his sons, brothers, cousins, many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews would come and enjoy their time together.

He is survived by his sons, Steven Villarreal and Michael Villarreal; brothers, Johnny Villarreal and Tony Villarreal; and numerous dear nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopoldo Sr. and Hilaria Villarreal; sister and brother-in-law, Irma and Alfonso Tijerina; brothers, Jesse Rene Villarreal and Robert Villarreal.

A celebration of life will be held at Flatonia Baptist Church on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1 p.m. The family extends an invitation to all who would like to celebrate a life well lived.”
